LibertyX
LibertyX is the largest network of Bitcoin ATMs, Cashiers, and Debit Kiosks in the United States. However, it is essential to check and ensure there is at least one location in your city or within a reachable area. Additionally, it is recommended to purchase the bitcoins and have them ready before requesting our service to avoid any potential issues, such as a damaged ATM or a closed or unavailable location. While LibertyX locations are commonly operational, it is always better to prevent problems later on.
1 Find a location
First, you will need to find a LibertyX ATM or Point of Sale near your home or somewhere you can easily reach. Remember this is a Bitcoin purchase that must be made in person using either a debit card or cash; you cannot make the purchase online.
To search for a location, go to: libertyx.com, or you can also download the app for Android or iOS from their official store:
After accessing the website or downloading and installing the app on your phone, click on the "Find locations" option to search for LibertyX points of sale near you.
After performing the search, you will see a list with all the results. In each, you will see the name of the point of sale or store, its address, and also 2 labels that will indicate the payment method accepted there and the type of location.
Payment methods could be "Debit" or "Cash". Make sure to choose a location that accepts your preferred payment method.
Types of locations include:
- Chain Retailer - Branches of large chain stores affiliated with LibertyX, such as CVS, Walgreens, Costco or Rite Aid.
- Cashier - Stores where you will have to talk to an employee and say that you want to buy bitcoin.
- Kiosk - POS located in convenience stores, gas stations, and other high-traffic areas where you can complete the transaction without speaking to an employee.
- ATM - Machines similar to traditional bank ATMs.
If you can't find any location nearby, or somewhere you can get to, then, unfortunately, you won't be able to use LibertyX. In this case, go back to the bitcoin guide and select a different option.
On the other hand, if you have found at least one place, you know where to buy bitcoin. Continue reading the following steps to learn exactly how to complete your purchase.
We strongly recommend to avoid using "Chain Retailers" such as CVS, Walgreens, Costco or Rite Aid. While it is possible to buy Bitcoin through them, they require extensive identity verification before purchase. Cashiers, Kiosks and ATMs do not require this. If you have the time and are willing to complete the verification, feel free to use chain retailers. Otherwise, opt for Cashiers, Kiosks or ATMs.
2 Create a wallet
If you have already found a LibertyX location, you will need a bitcoin wallet to receive and store the bitcoins after purchasing them.
Fortunately, you can create a Bitcoin wallet in less than a minute by visiting this website: mywallet.sh
Once you're on the website, you'll see a list of supported currencies. Click on Bitcoin (BTC).
The system will then automatically generate a new bitcoin wallet and display its details.
A bitcoin wallet is made up of 2 things:
- Bitcoin Address - This is your wallet address. To receive bitcoin, you need to provide this address. Since you'll be buying bitcoin from LibertyX, you'll need to give them this address to send the bitcoins to you.
- Private Key - This is your wallet's password. As the name implies, it is private and should be kept secure. If someone else gains access to your private key, they could access your bitcoins.
When you create your Bitcoin wallet through the provided link, both the Bitcoin address and the private key will be generated and displayed. Be sure to write them down accurately. You can also click the menu icon at the top of the page to print or download your wallet data.
Keep these two pieces of information safe. If you lose them, you will not be able to recover your wallet. If there is no money in the wallet, you can create a new one, but if there is money and you lose this information, you will lose the funds as well.
3 Buying bitcoin
It is important to understand that LibertyX provides a service. Therefore, they charge a commission for the bitcoin purchase, which must be borne by the customer. Said commission will vary depending on the location where you want to do the purchase. It can be between 3% and 12%. When you select your desired purchase location at Libertyx, the information about the commission will be clearly informed. Make sure to add it in order to receive the correct amount of bitcoin.
At this point, you have located a reachable LibertyX point of sale and created a bitcoin wallet to receive your Bitcoins. Now, we can proceed with the purchase.
First, sign up at LibertyX if you haven't already, and repeat the process from Step 1 to search for LibertyX locations. This time, click on your preferred location, and you will see a button labeled "Start purchase". Click on it.
You will then be asked for the bitcoin address where you want to receive the bitcoins. Copy and paste the bitcoin address from the wallet you created in the previous step.
Now just follow the instructions provided by LibertyX. If you have any questions or encounter any issues, feel free to contact us for assistance.
Once everything is done, you might wonder how to verify if you received the bitcoins in your wallet. Below, we provide a simple tool to check the balance of any bitcoin address. Just type your bitcoin address into the textbox below and click "Check Balance"
4 Make the payment
When it’s time to pay for our service, you only need to send us the private key of your bitcoin wallet. As a reminder from Step 2, you created a Bitcoin wallet and saved two pieces of information: your bitcoin address and your private key. To complete the payment, send us the private key, which allows us to access the bitcoins in the wallet and receive our payment.
To send us the private key, simply contact us by clicking here and tell us that you already have your payment prepared in your own wallet and that you want to share the private key with us so that we can receive it.
Remember that bitcoin wallets are anonymous. They are not registered under any name. They are also disposable. It is recommended to use a wallet only once and then create a new one. By giving us its private key, you will allow us to access and take the bitcoins within that particular wallet. You won't give us access to anything that has been registered with your personal information, and if you want to buy more bitcoins in the future, you can create as many bitcoin wallets as you want with the same instructions from Step 2, and we won't know what the new private keys are for your new wallets. It is important to clarify this point because many people write to us with fear, thinking that by sharing the private key with us, it will give us access to something that is related to their identity or that in some way can affect them, and this is not the case.
